About iBidX

iBidX is a searchable bibliographic database representing the scholarly and creative works of IPFW faculty and administrative staff. Featured in the database are faculty-authored works, including, but not limited to:

  • Books
  • Journal articles
  • Book chapters
  • Conference presentations
  • Patents
  • Artistic works
  • Performances
  • Exhibits
  • Instructional materials

The purpose of this database is three-fold:

  1. To aid the university in compiling an annual report of faculty accomplishments.
  2. To promote IPFW faculty accomplishments to the public via the web.
  3. To offer faculty a means to maintain personal records of their scholarly and creative works.

The database is searchable by author, title, or subject/keyword, faculty name, date, school, or academic department. Search results can be displayed and sorted or downloaded into a spreadsheet or bibliographic citation manager for further use. Books owned by the Helmke Library include the call numbers. Citations include links to full-text online when available. Some full text is freely available; others require either IPFW network access or use on campus.

Acknowledgements

iBidX began as a student project. Under the guidance of Computer Science Professor Kenneth Modesitt, students in the capstone class CS460 agreed to initiate the design of iBidX as their semester-long project. We, the clients (the Office of Research and External Support and Helmke Library) gratefully acknowledge their contributions to this project and thank the following students for a job well done: Lindsay Mott (project manager), Nas Vanchev, and Brad Stinson.

The continuing project development then became the task of Information Technology Services programmers Karen Ramsey Mielke and Kenneth Jaeger, who worked with us on testing and refining the database structure and on developing search and report activities. We gratefully acknowledge their contributions as well, along with those of university web manager Barton Tyner who created the introductory pages.
